She can’t find the butterflies
Though they’ll be back again
Light dances in the raindrops
They’re shining so bright
Maybe she’ll catch one
If she does it just right

Dancing in the dark
There are certainly moths here
Drawn by the lantern’s spark
And sweet little glow bugs
With their flashy wee tails
The kitten keeps trying
Again, when she fails

Sleeping on the bed
Visions of her dance partners
Dancing in her head
Her head pillowed on my foot
She’s purring like mad
She caught so much joy
In the simple day she had.

I fall asleep to her purr
